The 1st LOC3G Doctoral School was organized by the coordinator of LOC3G at BOKU University, Vienna, Austria, from 26.03.2025 to 28.03.2025. This doctoral school was held both online and onsite. There are about 50 PhD students from the beneficiary partners and associated partners participating in this Doctoral School. Univ. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wei Wu and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Yunteng Wang from Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, BOKU University (Coordinator) are the chairmen of this doctoral school.

The first lecture (online) was given by Prof. Paola Vannucchi from University of Florence, Italy. She gave the lecture with title of “From Compaction to Scaly Fabric: The Spectrum of Deformation Bands in Geological Media”.

The second lecture (onsite) was given by Prof. Alessandro Franci from CIMNE and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. He gave the lecture with the title “The Particle Finite Element Method: A Valuable Numerical Tool for Modeling Large-Deformation Problems

The third lecture (online) was given by Prof. Olena Ivanik from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She gave the lecture with the title of “Main factors and classification of landslides. Regional forecast of landslide hazards”.

The fourth lecture (onsite) was given by Dr. Philipp Braun from Navier Laboratory, École des Ponts ParisTech, France. He gave the lecture with the title of “Investigating thermo-hydro-mechanical coupling in experimental rock mechanics

The fifth lecture (online) was given by Dr. Alejandro Martinez from the University of California, Davis, United States. He gave the lecture with the title “Assessing the Stability and Runout Behavior of Fly Ash Impoundments via Centrifuge Tests”.

The sixth lecture (onsite) was given by Dr. Kateryna Hadiatska from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She gave the lecture with the title of “Local forecast of landslide hazards with the applications of geological and geophysical methods”.

The seventh lecture (online) was given by Dr. Alfrendo Satyanaga from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. He gave the lecture with the title “Rainfall-induced Slope Failures: Laboratory Testing, Analyses & Preventive Measures”.

The eighth lecture (online) was given by Prof. Olexandr Shabatura from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. He gave the lecture with the title “Stochastic modeling of subsidence processes and assessment of their impact on infrastructure”.

The ninth lecture (online) was given by Prof. Dmytro Kravchenko from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. He gave the lecture with the title “The influence of fault deformation zones on the distribution of landslides: Determination of the paleostress directions based on structural geology data”.

The tenth lecture (onsite) was given by Prof. Xueyu Geng from the University of Warwick, UK. She gave the lecture with the title “Debris-flow susceptibility analysis and economic vulnerability assessment of buildings”.

The 11th lecture (onsite) was given by Dr. Chi Zhang from the University of Vienna, Austria. She gave the lecture with the title “From Pore to Watershed: Geophysical Insights into Critical Environmental and Geohazard Challenges”.

The 12th lecture (onsite) was given by Prof. Selda Oterkus from the University of Strathclyde, UK. She gave the lecture with the title “Multiphysics Modelling by Using Peridynamics”.

The last lecture (onsite) was given by Priv.-Doz.Dr. Yunteng Wang from BOKU university, Austria. He gave the lecture with the title of “Phase-field modelling of discontinuous structures in geomechanics”.
